Student Transfer Information
IN-DISTRICT TRANSFER
This transfer is for resident students grades K-8 who wish to attend a school outside of their attendance area.
Students with a previously approved in-district transfer do not need to re-apply and will be allowed to continue attending their approved transfer school unless that transfer was at any time revoked. If you no longer wish to have your transfer in place, please notify the District Office at 541-494-6202.
For NEW In-District transfer requests, click on the link below to submit your application. Applications received during the priority window January 1-April 1 will be notified of the outcome before the end of June. Submitting a transfer application within the priority window does not guarantee approval. Applications received after the priority window will be notified of the outcome before the start of school.
High school students should contact their current principal for questions regarding school changes.
INTER-DISTRICT TRANSFER
This transfer is for students requesting to change school districts. This transfer requires approval from both the resident district and the receiving district and must initiate with the district you reside in. Students may be denied approval based on policies established by either district. Inter-district transfer applications can be returned to: amy.shipley@district6.org. Inter-District transfer requests for Central Point School District will open on April 1.

HARDSHIP TRANSFER
This transfer should be completed in the event of an emergency to protect the health, safety, or welfare of a student or in the event of a hardship as defined by OAR 581-021-0019. Hardship transfer applications can be returned to amy.shipley@district6.org
OPEN ENROLLMENT TRANSFER
Open Enrollment law, enacted by the Oregon Legislature in 2011, sunset on July 1, 2019. 2018-2019 was the last year for students to transfer under this law. Any student who has transferred via open enrollment before the sunset does not lose their open enrollment status and remains a resident student of the district in which they are currently enrolled.
CONTINUATION TRANSFER
This transfer should be completed following a legal change of residence to a different school district:
- During the school year to enable the student to complete the school year in the school district;
OR
- During the summer prior to the school year to enable the student to complete the school year following the summer in the school district.
If the student wishes to remain in the district the following school year, they must apply for inter-district transfer with their resident school district. Continuation transfer applications can be returned to: amy.shipley@district6.org
