ELSSD: Early Literacy Success School District Grant
In 2023, the Oregon Legislature established early literacy as a top priority. In creating the Early Literacy Success School District Grant, state grant funds will be utilized to meet these four goals:
- Increase early literacy for children from birth to third grade;
- Reduce literacy academic disparities for student groups that have historically experienced academic disparities;
- Increase support to parents and guardians to enable them to be partners in the development of their children’s literacy skills and knowledge; and
- Increase access to early literacy learning through support that is research-aligned, culturally responsive, student-centered and family-centered.
Upon review of our Early Literacy Program, the following needs were identified:
-
Additional updated Language Arts curriculum
-
Additional updated Tier 2 literacy instructional materials
-
Additional tutoring opportunities during the school day
-
Additional opportunities for summer learning
-
Core reading professional development and the use of the MTSS Synergy Module to create student learning plans and monitor growth.
CPSD will further this work through the District ELSI Team through the 23-24 and 24-25 school years.
