             DRINK WATER, BRING WATER, DRINK WATER,

 Athletes will come to practice dressed and ready to run….

  • Unexcused absences from practice will render an athlete ineligible for the next race.
  • Schedules are posted online at the Scenic Middle School Website under Athletics on the Cross Country
  • Parents/Guardians/Authorized Caring Adults must be in the Scenic Parking Lot to pick-up their athlete(s) promptly at the end of practice.
  • Adult/Coach Supervision of student-athletes ends at 5:15pm

 Scenic Cross Country 2017 Information

Our Team Goal = To qualify as many of our student-athletes as possible to proudly represent Scenic Middle School, and our Central Point Community, at the at the SOMSAC District Championships AND the Oregon Middle School State Championships to be held on Sunday, October 22nd at Western Oregon University in Monmouth Oregon.

 Who: Scenic Cross Country Team welcomes ALL genders and abilities from grades 6th, 7th, and 8th. Your coaches are Alex Grover (541) 261-5297 and Suzanne Ray. Jay Campbell (541) 494-6404 is the Athletic Director.

 What: The Cross Country Season begins on August 28th, 2017.

You MUST have your Insurance Documents, Physical Exam Documents a Blue Eligibility Card Issued by the Office (Cathy) to participate. Forms can be downloaded from the Scenic Middle School website under the ‘Athletics” tab.

Where: Practices will begin at grove adjacent to the parking lot with our Warm-Ups and usually proceed off-campus for Distance Training Work-outs.

 When:  Practices are held weekdays from 3:45 – 5:00pm. Parents are expected to pick their athlete up from practice as soon as practice is over.

Direct Adult Supervision ends at 5:15pm.

Why: 

  • Your Coaches want to ensure that safety comes first.
  • Your Coaches want to create a positive, supportive environment that fosters personal growth and achievement through hard work and dedication to themselves and their teammates.
  • Our goal for each student-athlete is to support their quest to set as many Personal Records (P.R.’s) as possible during the season.

How:

  • The athletes are expected to participate in every practice. Doing so will ensure that the athletes are making the most of their commitment to themselves and their teammates.
  • Athletes will report to the Practice Spot by 3:45pm, dressed and ready to begin warm-ups.
  • Athletes will be given a Time Trial the 2nd week of practice to set their Personal Growth Target(s). The Meet events are 3000 meters (1.8 miles) in length.
