A Message from Mr. Rambo

May is the time of year when students get to demonstrate the knowledge and skills they have been working on this school year.  Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders are continuing State Testing.  Classes are gearing up for the annual Celebration of Learning that is on June 7th.  Many classes have end-of-year projects and presentations to prepare for.  Make sure you are checking your student’s progress as these important deadlines approach.  We have many fun activities for students as the end of the year approaches, but will also be keeping an academic focus well into the last days of the school year.  Thanks for all you do to support us and your students.

Tom Rambo

** Teacher Request Information **

Parents who would like to request a specific teacher for the 2016-17 school year must have the request submitted in writing to the Jewett office or emailed to Anna Gray (anna.gray@district6.org) by Friday, May 27th.  Teacher requests must include an educational reason.  We do consider your requests as part of our decision making, but please understand that final placement decisions are made based on your child’s past academic and behavioral performance and the input of the current teacher.  Also, keep in mind that teacher grade level assignments will not be finalized until after student registration in August.

WEATHER/SCHOOL CLOSURES

Updates regarding weather/school closures can be found on the District 6 website (district6.org), Facebook page and local stations.

INCREASING STUDENT SAFETY

In order to increase student safety, parents who will be picking up their students after school need to remain in the designated pick up areas.  These areas are at the front of the school or under the covered area.  Parents should not wait outside classrooms to pick up their student.  Students should use the crosswalk at the front of the school to approach their parents vehicle.  Students should not cut across the parking lot at any other area.
