A Message from Mr. Rambo

Jewett Community,

What a great and supportive community Jewett has—the annual Jog-A-Thon fundraiser brought in over $33,000!  This money is vital for improving the technology our students have access to, as well as providing unique and engaging educational experiences for our students.  I speak for the entire staff when I say that your support really makes a difference.  We are fortunate to be a part of such a special school community.

November is here and that means Parent/Teacher conferences and report cards for the first trimester.  Conferences are a very important piece of the communication between home and school.  Our goal is to have 100% participation for conferences—be looking for sign-up sheets coming home.  Teachers have important academic and behavioral information to pass along.

School Report Cards are available online at the Oregon Department of Education’s website.  This will give parents information about how individual schools performed on the first year of the new Smarter Balanced Assessment.  As a staff, we have been looking at the results to determine areas we need to focus more instruction towards.  Parents of 4th and 5th grade students will get individualized results when they meet with their student’s teacher during conferences.

To view our state report card visit: http://www.ode.state.or.us/data/reportcard/reports.aspx

Copies of the report card are also available in the main office upon request.

In order to increase student safety, parents who will be picking up their students after school need to remain in the designated pick up areas.  These areas are at the front of the school or under the covered area.  Parents should not wait outside classrooms to pick up their student.  Students should use the crosswalk at the front of the school to approach their parents vehicle.  Students should not cut across the parking lot at any other area.

Jewett  Elementary has a Spanish Phone Line!  If you are needing to communicate with someone in Spanish, please call 541-494-6608.  Here you will be able to leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as possible.  Please do not leave any going home changes.  Those calls will still need to be made to the office at 541-494-6607.

We will be using an automated calling system to inform parents of upcoming events.  If you get a call from 541-494-6607, please listen to the message before returning the call.
