Principal’s Message-
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgCongratulations to our staff, parents, and students on a successful 2009-2010 school year. This has been such a great year and I will miss all of our kids this summer. I want to thank all of our 5th grade students and parents on a great career here at Jewett. This class of 5th graders is prepared and ready for the challenge of middle school and I am confident they will continue to make Jewett proud.
Registration information
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgRegistration for next year is set for August 17th for kindergarten. For incoming students in 1st-5th grades registration will be August 18th for last names (A-L). August 19th will be for students with last names (M-Z). Registration times for all dates are 9:00am-1:00pm, and 5:00pm-7:00pm.
Start of School and Calendar
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgDue to the new state budget shortfall and thus our district’s budget reduction, as of June 2nd we do not have a set calendar for next year. We have set the first days of school. For 1st – 5th graders the first day of school is September 7th. For incoming kindergarten students their first day of school will be September 13th. School will continue to run 7:55-2:20 for K-2, and 7:55-2:25 for 3-5.
District Elementary Track
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgJune 5th (Saturday) at Crater High School is the 3rd annual Elementary Track Meet. While Pre- registration is over, you can still register at the event. The event kicks off at 9:15am with our staff relay. Come and watch Jewett teachers race against teachers from our other elementary schools. You can come at anytime to compete, 9:30am-1:30pm.
Celebration of Learning
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgThursday June 3rd is the Celebration of Learning from 5:30pm-7:00pm. Come and see music performances, displays of student work, and enjoy a dinner provided by Celena’s Grill. Dinner is $5 ($20/ max for families). There is also an auction to raise money for Jewett. Please attend this fantastic event. Overflow parking will be at Assembly of God church right next to Jewett.
Goodbye to Mrs. Gillette, Mrs. Scallon, Mrs. Sedey, and Ms. Carol
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgWe are saying goodbye to four retiring staff members this year. Mrs. Scallon and Mrs. Sedey are retiring from the classroom. Mrs. Gillette is retiring from our Intervention specialist position and Carol Endsley is retiring as our Librarian. We wish all four the best as they enjoy a long and happy retirement.
Redistricting Notice
June 2nd, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgMay 25th our school board approved a redistricting plan starting next year. If you live on Wilson Rd. or North of Wilson Rd, you will be attending Sams Valley Elementary next year. We are reviewing transfers for fourth and fifth graders wishing to stay at Jewett. Transportation is not provided for transferring students

May 11th, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgThe last full month of school is upon us and I cannot believe how fast the year has gone. I want to thank all of our kids and parents for making this a great school year. We are completing our state testing this month and our students have worked so hard in preparing for the test. There are lots of activities for students this month. We are always looking for parent volunteers for field trips and special projects in classrooms, contact your child’s teacher for details.
Celebration of Learning
May 11th, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgThursday June 3rd , from 5:30-7:30 is one of the real unique events for our school. The Celebration of Learning displays work of our students, includes entertainment from our music students, as well as a fundraising auction. PTO puts on the event and is in need of donations for auction items. Volunteers are also needed to help with the event. Call Susan Thayer at 664-5912 if you care to donate. For more information on the event call our office at 494-6600. This is a well attended event so we will use overflow parking at the Assembly of God Church next to our school.
Kindergarten Roundup, May 20th
May 11th, 2010 by scott.dippel@district6.orgThursday, May 20th at 6pm, we will be holding Jewett’s annual Kindergarten Roundup for perspective kindergarten students and parents. This night will provide information about our school, kindergarten classes, and teachers. It will also cover student expectations. If you or someone you know has a kindergarten age student that will attend Jewett, please make plans to attend.
