A Message from Mr. Rambo

It is hard to believe we are at the end of the school year already.  As we get ready to head into summer, it is important that you have an academic plan in place for your students. Summer is a very fun time but it is also important that we don’t lose the academic gains of this school year. I encourage parents to set some simple guidelines for students such as read for 15 minutes per day and do one math sheet.  Parents can find some basic math and reading activity books at many local stores or online.  If you set this routine the first week of summer vacation, you will help ensure your student’s success for next year!

Students will continue to have access to the IXL math program over the summer.  This is a great resource that students should be fairly independent on.  Make sure your student knows how to log on and access their account.

Accelerated Reader will not be available at your residence but there will be several dates that parents can bring their students in to take a test.  I will have the computer lab open from 9:00am to 11:30am on the following dates:  June 23rd, August 11th and August 25th.

Mr. Rambo

Come play, learn, and have fun with our wonderful Crater High School players and coaches!

Teacher Request Information

Parents who would like to request a specific teacher for the 2015-16 school year must have the request submitted, in writing, to the Jewett office by Friday, May 29th.  Teacher requests must include an educational reason.  We do consider your requests as part of our decision making, but please understand that final placement decisions are made based on your child’s past academic and behavioral performance and the input of the current teacher.  Also, keep in mind that teacher grade level assignments will not be finalized until after student registration in August.

STUDENT SAFETY ALERT!

The crosswalk on 10th street is for students walking to school. Parents should not let students out of their car on 10th street while traffic is stopped for the crosswalk.    Parents can pull to a side street and let their student out or use the crosswalk at the front of the school.

SPANISH PHONE LINE

Jewett  Elementary has a Spanish Phone Line!  If you are needing to communicate with someone in Spanish, please call 541-494-6608.  Here you will be able to leave a message and someone will return your call as soon as possible.  Please do not leave any going home changes.  Those calls will still need to be made to the office at 541-494-6607.

AUTOMATED ATTENDANCE CALLING SYSTEM

On December 1st, we will implement a new automated attendance calling system.  As per state law, we are required to notify the parent/guardian of a student who is marked absent.  These calls will only be made to parents who have not notified the school of a student’s absence by 8:30 am.  This new system does not excuse parents from communicating with the school when their student is absent.  We appreciate your support in helping us ensure all of our students are safe.
